How tall will my kid be?

Half of that answer is already sitting in the room with you. Put in both parents' heights and this works out the mid-parental target, which is the same arithmetic a pediatrician does on the back of a chart.

Why it comes out as a range

Parents fix the middle of the range and not much else. Wright and Cheetham checked how well parental height on its own predicts what a child actually reaches, and it turns out to be a weak predictor. The band above is around seven inches wide, so two brothers can both be perfectly normal and finish at opposite ends of it.

The child's own measurements are what narrow it. Where they sit on the growth chart today, and whether they have held that line or slid off it, tells you more than either parent's height, and this page has no way of knowing any of that.

Height Predictor is for the readings after this one. It stores each measurement, plots them on the CDC stature-for-age curve, and recomputes the range every time you add one, so a kid who has sat at the 40th percentile since age 4 stops looking like a kid who landed there last month. That's the whole app. iPhone only for now.

The other half of the question is where a child stands today. These are the CDC stature-for-age percentiles, 3rd to 97th, printed out for every whole year from 2 to 18 — the same tables the app plots against, computed from the same LMS parameters.

Privacy policy

Height Predictor does not collect, transmit, store, or share any personal information. All data you enter — including height, weight, birthdate, family heights, and habit check-ins — is processed and kept entirely on your device.

• No data collection. The app makes no network requests to us. We have no servers and no databases, and we cannot see anything you enter.
• No third-party analytics or advertising. There are no tracking SDKs in the app.
• The calculator on this page. It runs in your browser and the heights you type are never sent anywhere. This website — not the app — does count anonymous visits and clicks on the App Store link, with no cookies used to identify you.
• Purchases. Subscriptions are processed by Apple's App Store or Google Play. We receive no personal details from those transactions. Purchase state is validated by RevenueCat using an anonymous identifier that is not linked to your identity.
• Deleting your data. Settings → "Delete all data" erases everything the app stores, immediately and permanently. Uninstalling the app does the same.
• Children. Height Predictor is designed for parents and guardians. It does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.

If this policy ever changes, the change will be listed here with a new effective date.

What the estimate is

Height Predictor combines a child's position on the CDC stature-for-age growth charts with mid-parental height and shows the result as a range. It is an estimate for curiosity and general wellness — not medical advice. Talk to a pediatrician about any growth concerns.

Terms of use

Height Predictor is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. Estimates are statistical, carry inherent uncertainty, and must not be used for medical decisions.

Height Predictor sells one paid tier as an auto-renewing subscription, Weekly or Yearly, at the price shown on the purchase screen in your local currency. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase, or at the end of the free period if one is offered. The subscription renews for the same period each time unless you turn off auto-renew in your App Store account settings at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Manage or cancel a subscription under Settings → your name → Subscriptions on the device. A free period that is not used in full is forfeited when a subscription is purchased. Apple's standard EULA is the Terms of Use that applies on iOS.
